Camera+ 6.1 is just out of the kiln. Here’s all the fact & fiction…

Hello, everyone!

It’s been said that “you can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”. Well, today, we’re very proud to continue with our mission of pleasing some of the people some of the time with this new release of Camera+!

To kick things off, we have a new Pro quality setting. For those of you who are willing to sacrifice your precious storage space for the sake of capturing and saving the absolute highest quality images you can get with your iPhone, this feature’s for you. With this setting, your photos are stored and processed in the TIFF format with lossless compression. Pro quality isn’t the kind of setting you’ll typically want to use all the time, but for those extra-special shots where you want the utmost in quality, this will definitely do the trick.

Next up is a little enhancement that we’ve added to our innovative Front Flash. Before this update, you were limited to either having it on or off. But now in Camera+ 6.1, you also have an Auto setting for it so that you can let the little gnome that lives in your iPhone decide whether it should be on or off. Because gnomes know best. This, of course, leaves you with one less thing to think about when taking selfies so you can simply focus on doing your best pre-2014 Renée Zellweger impression. And yes, we want to see those, so please share!

And lastly, this is for all of you who’ve left burning brown bags of unmentionables on our stoops for us killing iOS 7 support in Camera+ 6. You poomongers will be very happy to hear that version 6.1 works on iOS 7. Of course, you won’t have the benefit of being able to use the new manual camera controls, macro mode, and Photos extension that are only available on iOS 8, but those are just an OS upgrade away for you when you’re ready. We’ll wait patiently…

That’s it for now. We’ve got some big things coming down the pipeline for both this iPhone version of Camera+, along with a huge, long-overdue update for the iPad version. Have faith!

Love,
The Camera+ Team

  1. I realise it’s a long shot, but further to pro mode now available, what are the chances of RAW image captures?

  2. It’s gorgeous. works perfectly on 5S.

By the way, wish the promo worked for iPad version too :/ I’m too stingy to pay for it (as a poor student lol). I’ve already paid 4 dollars for the iPhone version :D

And thanks for your awesome website. It has helped me a lot.

  3. i realize it’s only $2.99 to buy but the redeem code doesn’t work – states it’s already been used

  4. Very nice! Now we just need an option to clear app cache. Also, what about making the live controls rotate to landscape when holding your phone in that orientation?

  5. Dear John, nice to see TIFF settings like killed KitCam app…but still having spinning wheel on black screen when editing photos on camera roll extension.

    iPhone 5, iOS 8.1

  6. When I open the Apple Store app on my iPad (IOS 7) the menu is at the top, not the bottom. When I hit “Store” there is no link to download the Camera+ app. Why?

  7. I’m not a pro, so it’s generally not an issue for me, but I’m just wondering. I use the pro quality, take a photo, save it as TIFF and… what next? I wanted to compare the quality of the pro and high quality settings, so decided to get two similar photos to my Mac. how can I do it without losing the quality? Saving to camera rolls seems to convert them to JPEG format. Trying to use the AirDrop directly from Camera+ copies the files to Mac and… they are both JPEG files. I’ve also tried sending them to myself via e-mail – it’s the same. Any ideas?

  8. My copy of Camera+ for my IPad does not allow the camera come on, I have only a black screen? Is there a fix since I paid $4.99 for nothing?

  9. You can’t please all of the people all of the time in all of the Multiverse, but the developers at Camera+ really seem to have thought a lot about how people shoot with their iPhone cameras and have made the features and controls as accessible as possible for most of us. The dev team has figured out that my priority for taking an image starts with: focus on THAT part of the image, and make it THIS much lighter/darker. Then at other times I want to fine-focus and set exposure & white balance manually. The layout of the UI accommodates my needs either way. And Clairity always gives me the assurance that I am always going to get a usable image. I love the Lab, too. Thanks for making The Camera I Always Have With Me a much better tool.
